problem with CPU cooler install

Im am trying to install the Asus ROG Strix lc240 RGB AIO on to my pc i have removed the previous cooler and got the backplate of the new cooler on but when i put the standoffs on they did not sit flush with the mother board i tried flipping the back plate that didn't help. there seems to be a gap between the where the back plate comes beyond the motherboard and the standoffs 

ant suggestions to solve the problem are appreciated.
