LineageOS taking forever to boot

Let me start by saying that I am not new to flashing custom phone ROMS, Ive done this same exact process on this phone dozens of times. I am looking to get a clean install, but when booting my phone for the first time its stuck on the loading screen for 45+ minutes.

 

I vaguely remember it taking a while on first boot, but Ive done the whole process over again 6 times, and its gone for 40-50 minutes every time.

 

I read somewhere that if it takes more than 30 it probably wont boot at all. Is this true? How long can one expect it to take?

 

It is not a high-end device, its got slower eMMC storage. Its a Moto G7 Power.

This time im going to leave it for 3 hours before i re-flash it.

Well yeah something went wrong even on old phones it's not supposed to take long and a g7 by no means is an old phone. My dads g3 boots in minutes.

Maybe just try a different lineage os version? I've had odd ones before where just going to a different build of whatever version I was using fixed my problems.

Im having the same problem, even with the exact same build i used last time I flashed my phone. Is there a chance that a different version of TWRP will help?

Oh yeah that can totally help too. Twrp can be finicky at times.

This might be nothing but when i flash twrp into fastboot it tells me "Image not signed or corrupt"

any idea if thats supposed to happen? Its happened on every single attempt.

I have tried 3 versions of twrp now. On one of them, I cant use the touch screen, and the other 2 dont fix my problem it looks like.

Are you using the official lingeage os roms?

Hmm maybe reinstall the fastboot stuff? Might be an error there. I've not used it on a linux distro before only on windows

well this really sucks because i currently dont have a phone

Someone on reddit said their first boot took 1 hour and 30 minutes and then it worked perfect, Im going to let it go for a while and see if its any better

Here is a list of things i have tried:

Several different builds and combinations of builds of both twrp and the lineage os rom.

Several differnt USB ports on my computer

Waiting 2 hours for it to boot

Using adb logcat to create log while it boots and see where it hangs (it disappears from adb devices when the boot logo starts, and logcat is stuck on "waiting for devices")

Comparing the checksums for the twrp and lineage ROMs (they matched)

I formatted every time before installing and declined to install twrp (I only fastbooted to it directly off my computer using fastboot terminal tools)

 

I have followed this guide perfectly, the same way i have every time ive flashed my phone:

I am downloading both twrp and lineageOS from the official websites

I know this is might sound dumb but have you reset /data partition (aka factory reset) after installing?

My process was boot twrp>format>load ROM> gets stuck on boot

Are you saying I should try that or asking if thats what I did?
