Budget (including currency):

Country: usa

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: call of duty and racing games as well as fiance wants to edit her photography

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): this is my first build and wanted to see if the parts I have picked out will be adequate for gaming and some photography editing.

ROG STRIX b450 mobo

Ripjaw v series 8gb ram

Rtx 2060 ko gpu

Samsung 970 ssd 1tb

Evga 500w 80+ power supply

Ryzen 5 3600x

Musetex 6fan case

Any suggestions to make this better while staying close to the same price range?

2060s aren't being manufactured anymore, so good luck finding them in stock.
Go with 16GB of RAM
Just go with the normal 3600, not the "x" model
Go with a better psu. Their 80+ PSUS are known for being garbage.
Change the case to a P300A, and if you care about RGB a P400A Digital. That Musetex case looks pretty garbage
Go with a B550 Pro4 or DS3H, no reason to go with a B450 board in that price range.

Didn't include a GPU because literally no GPU is in stock right now. If your okay with buying used Pc Parts a GTX 1070 is around 200 dollars right now.

I recommend going with the R5 3600, not the R5 3600x. Also at least a 600W PSU. IMO power supply's are the 1 thing that you DO NOT want to cheap out in. Here the the PSU tier list:

Tier Lists and Specs List Below

Motherboard VRM tier list  -----  PSU tier list

React if you agree with me!

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600  |  CPU Cooler: Asus ROG STRIX LC240 White |  RAM: Crucial Ballistix RGB 16GB 3600 | Mobo: ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A  |  SSD: Inland m.2 NVMe SSD 256GB  |  HDD: Seagate 2TB 7200RPM |  GPU: RTX 3060 Ti FE  |  PSU: Seasonic SGX 650 |  Case: Lian Li o11 mini-W  |  Mouse: Razer Basilisk mercury |  Keyboard: Drop CTRL (Used. I did not spend $200 on a keyboard) |  Mouse Pad: Aura Mech Purple Storm  |  MonitorAsus TUF 24" IPS 144Hz 1080p

Everything seems nice except those 8 gb's of RAM maybe you could go with a cheaper mobo and get a 2x8 kit?

Edit: Didn't see the cpu was the "X" varient, go with the normal ryzen 5 3600 and dont cheap out on the psu

I have a My pc guide for first build and upgrade guidance. id go 3600 and 3060ti if you can find one for 400. Maybe go for b450 mATX board thats about 70 dollars to save money. You'll definitely want 16gb of ram. get a 600/650w psu if you get the 3060

OUTDATED JAN 2021 ===========> Check out my pc building guide! might be useful tho

It's great for planning new builds, getting a reference on where to start, or seeing what you need to play what games.

It also shows what I recommend for upgrading your stuff!

cpu - ryzen 5 3600

gpu - gtx 1070

ram - (2x8) 3200mhz

ssd - 970 evo plus 500gb

ssd2 - 860 qvo 1tb

mobo - asrock b450m hdv r4.0

psu - evga b5 550w bronze
