2 windows operating systems?

Go to solution Solved by Wowzeree,

Hello. I was wondering if there is any way to delete one of my windows os’s. One of them got corrupted and it is annoying to have this screen on startup. And the files from the other os still take up space. Thanks!

image.jpgEdit: Hey, i fixed this by completely wiping everything on my ssd because most of my old windows files are on there. There is still some cleaning up to do, but I got it for the most part.

This can be removed from the startup screen using msconfig (type this in a run dialog box). On the boot tab you should be able to remove/disable whichever one is the corrupted one. (On a Mac at the moment and don't recall the exact verbiage of this).

But more importantly. How did you reinstall Windows, it's reinstalled on the same Drive?

Agreed with @GoodEnough - Boot into your working windows OS.

Go to start menu and type Partition, this will open the disk partition app on Windows.

Find the volum you want to delete and just right click and delete the volume.

If you don't want to lose out on that unused space, you should be able to expand your working windows partition... although might not work as you're booted to it...

But definitely delete the partition from there, and you'll be good :)

I reinstalled it on a different drive because i got the blue screen of death and it wouldn’t let me reinstall it on the same one

I'm honestly trying to make sense of this a little. And I'm confused. Maybe you can clarify.

From what this is showing. You have 2 drives. Disk 0 is a 1TB and I assume this is the good install of Windows? It's showing that's boot even though it's just labelled as New Volume.

Disk 1 is 256 GB which contains an EFI, and recovery partitions, which would be generated during an install of Windows, as well as what I am assuming is actually the original corrupted install of Windows because it's listed in disk management as a data drive only.

So i guess my question is, which is which?
