So, I didn't have a lot of money to build my pc. Everything I used was given to me (i.e I took it from my work after they upgraded) with the exception of my gpu. It's a used gtx 1650 i picked up for 100USD. Not sure if it was a good price, however, its been working fine for a few months. My only issue is that with less graphics intensive games like minecraft or amung us, my highest fps is 60. My system specs are as followed: Intel DZ68DB, I72600, 12gb DDR3. Am I just stuck with low frame rates or is there something I can do to get those numbers up?

sounds like you have v-sync on. With it off you would be getting around 80fps anyways in minecraft which would probably feel worse than with vsync on. you can go into your game settings and disable or increase max fps. you can also go to windows settings < display < advanced < display properties < monitor and see if your refresh rate is at the highest that its supposed to be.

OUTDATED JAN 2021 ===========> Check out my pc building guide! might be useful tho

It's great for planning new builds, getting a reference on where to start, or seeing what you need to play what games.

It also shows what I recommend for upgrading your stuff!

cpu - ryzen 5 3600

gpu - gtx 1070

ram - (2x8) 3200mhz

ssd - 970 evo plus 500gb

ssd2 - 860 qvo 1tb

mobo - asrock b450m hdv r4.0

psu - evga b5 550w bronze

This is the highest refresh rate my 120USD acer monitor goes.

When you have vsync on, does the fps match that 75Hz refresh rate of your monitor? Also, for games like minecraft which don't have much of a load graphically, the CPU is doing pretty much all the work. An old i7 will be a bit slower in games like that. Though I notice you've got 12GB of DDR3, sounds like 1x4GB + 1x8GB. If you went with 2x8GB you'd have dual channel and the increased bandwidth might improve performance.

$100 is definitely a good price for a 1650, compared to the ridiculous asking price for a new model.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

For among us, I get 73fps on the loading screen and like 60fps with vsync off.

This is a benchmark I just ran, but the highest I've seen in game (War Thunder) is 90 on the highest setting. Is this normal? It's definitely playable, I guess I was expecting more. It still beats the gtx220 I had before it lol

I mean... overclocking might be an option. But the rx570 would have been a better choice if thats in stock. good luck tho
