PC won't POST

Go to solution Solved by FenixC,

Welp, I am a superb idiot. Turns out the RAM wasn't fully seated. I have a reputation in my friend group for being a bull in a china shop, so I was being a little to gentle when putting the RAM in. I heard a click when inserting, but it still was not fully in. Sorry for wasting your time!

Hey all, and Happy New Year! I have completed my first PC build ever a couple of days ago. But the darned thing won't POST! It lights up and the fans spin, but there is no display on screen. I have tried everything on this thread, except for numbers 10, 13, and 14 because I don't have a debug speaker, and I don't have any other parts (upgrading from a Samsung Chromebook 3 lol). The only relevant information I have right now is that sometimes, my bottom intake fan won't spin without me manually pushing it, and that a little white light on my GPU comes on whenever I power on the system (idk if that is normal or bad). Everything is brand new, except for my GPU, which I bought on eBay from a secondhand seller. There are no lights that I could check on my motherboard as far as I can tell. I don't know if my motherboard can beep on its own, but as of right now there is no beeping. Also, my motherboard is getting power, because my USB peripherals light up when I turn on the PC. I don't know if this matters at all, but my case fans are not plugged in to the motherboard, but rather an external hub that they came with. I might have a friend come over tomorrow with his parts to try and diagnose which part is having an issue with his parts, but as of right now, I have no other parts to test it with.

Thanks for all of the help!

my suspicion would be on the GPU. Try swapping with your friend when he comes over tomorrow.

I will definitely check that out tomorrow. However, I did try using the iGPU as well, with the same results.

1600af doesnt have an iGPU so you won't get any output when you hook into your motherboard.

oh, really? LOL! I guess I just thought I had an iGPU on the mobo because of its VGA and HDMI ports. Thanks for letting me know, I would have been very confused without that info.

You are not idiot :D, that's a veeeery common thing that happens all the time, its nice that you figured that out, now you've learned something new ^^

Also, when something doesn't work, unplugging everything and plugging it back all again one at a time its a nice troubleshooting thing xD
