...dare I say new.

I got an old Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Rev. 6.0 from a friend who works at a tech shop. (it was in the recycle pile, so it's definitely not new or in good condition)

When I go to power on the machine, I get this weird coil whine that sounds like it's coming from the CPU fan. I also get these blue artifacts in bios (this is only without an external Gpu installed) and it won't detect peripherals or boot into Windows.

When I do have a Gpu installed, I can get into Windows but it runs in a stretched resolution and fails to read the data on my SSD (so it uses a temporary account)

Is this an issue with the Psu? Or is this caused by something wrong with the board? Specs below:

- Amd Phenom II x4 955 CPU

- Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 6.0 mobo

- Sapphire Vaporx HD 4870 1GB GPU

- 128GB HP SSD

- 16 GB RAM

- 1 TB HDD

- Thermaltake smart 500W PSU

I'm gonna start by assuming the motherboard is most likely the issue.

Does using a Linux USB have any difference?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

I found out the issue was the Ram, oddly enough. Using one stick seemed to fix the problem and it boots to windows 10 correctly. Thanks for responding though!
