Need a Mic

I got a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-AD500x headphones a while ago and have been loving them. However, this leaves me without a proper microphone. I've just been using the mic on my old headset by keeping it on my desk and pointing it at me, but this isn't a very good solution. Plus I'm going to sell my old headset, so it's not going to be around much longer. So I need some recommendations for a decent microphone.

 

The most I'll pay is $40. I would just go for a modmic, but I'm not sure if it would work with my headphones due to the way they are designed. If anyone knows whether it does or doesn't work with them, please let me know.

If you REALLY want a budget mic, go with the blue snowball. If you are willing to spend more, you should by and Audio Technica AT2020 USB Microphone.

The headphones have this very open pattern, so there's not a lot of surface to adhere to.

I thought modmics were fine at adhering to mesh. There's still a significant surface area, but I may be wrong.

You could also attach it to the bottom of the headphones where there is no mesh and adjust the boom position.

If you really want a budget solution, buy a Zalman ZM1 (i think) mic.
It is cheap, and it works quite well, except it does pick up a lot of background noise...
