help with choosing gpu

Go to solution Solved by Paralectic,

You should get a GTX 760.

Hi guys,

As the title suggests, I'm thinking of getting an nvidia gpu. Here are the specs of my current rig.

Cpu athlon ii x4,760k

Cpu cooler Hyper 212 evo

Mobo msi a88xm e35

Ram corsair vengeance 8gb (2x4)

Storage samsung evo pro 120gb

WD 1tb blue

Gpu asus r7 260x directcu2

I'm not really happy with my gpu atm and i have atleast £150-£200 that i can spend on a new one.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks for replying. Is the gtx 760 better than what I have? Won't my cpu bottleneck the gtx 760?

Your CPU will not be a significant bottleneck at all, I'm using a worse CPU with the same GPU ( well, a 660 but it's not that much worse ) and it works all fine and the 760 is better than what you have now yes.

But it will still bottleneck? Maybe it's better if I save up and get a better rig, planning on playing SC. Thanks for the help

Maybe it's just me but I've been having trouble with amd drivers for 2 months now. So I would like to tryan nvidia gpu.

That's fine, I'm just listing another option for your price range :D

Just an update.

I got my gtx 760 msi afterburner version, I thought the closed cooler design would suit my rig better. It will have an intake fan right under it to supply air. Wish me luck on setting this up. Now just have to sell of my asus r7 260x and gigabyte r9 270.

Thanks for the help guys!
