Hi everyone!
I just finished my first build this weekend and noticed some strange behaviors (everything is stable though).

First off, the specs.
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 w/stock cooler

GPU: MSI 5500XT Mech

Motherboard: ASRock B550M Steel Legend

RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB (3200mhz)

Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 750w (I know it’s a bit excessive, but I got a great deal on it).
Storage: Samsung Nvme 500gb SSD, Seagate Barracuda 2tb HDD

Case: Thermaltake Core v21

My biggest problem is thermals. The ryzen 5 3600 idles at about 50c and will go up to 90c in cinebench. I have heard that ASRock tends to “overclock” the cpu out of the box (mine is running at 3.9 all core with the stock config), but this still seems excessive.

Secondly, I have an old 1tb hard drive from a Dell prebuilt that I’d like to repurpose. For whatever reason it WILL NOT format. I try to run a full format on the drive, and get a “drive in use error”. Not sure why this is happening, but I can’t see where else it could be in use.

This one isn’t a problem, but rather a question. How could I best configure case fans? The single 200mm at the front is not enough to keep everything cool, but I’m not sure the best way to incorporate additional fans. I have room for 5 120mm fans (4 on any side that can be intake or exhaust, 1 at the back for exhaust). A picture of my case is included.

Thanks for any help in advance!

I tried to format it both within file explorer and disk utility. Both gave a “drive in use” error.

option 1: retry after a reboot

option 2: use a disk utility software

option 3: plug it via USB and try formatting it

if those fail option 4: use a windows CD boot menu if u have a CD drive

thats all i can think of right now
