Hey everyone,

first post here and directly having a "huge" issue with me being unsure how to upgrade my PC properly to enjoy it a long time. Long story short: My current GPU is running on it's last breaths after serving me for 5 years day in and day out (GTX 970) and I need to upgrade that ASAP since I also need a GPU for streaming. With the whole Covid-Situation I am also on a tight budget for that, so I need to buy a used GPU to get the most "Bang for the Buck" imo. I scoped the used market for a bit and also looked into some videos on YouTube etc. to have some choices.

For now I am sticking with a 1070Ti, 1080 and a 1080Ti which all will fit my budget, but I am still unsure which GPU to buy, since I am not really in the "GPU Game" anymore. So I hope you can help me make the best decision based on my budget and currently used parts. Everything needed will be written down below, so you can see what I will use my PC for. The prices for the GPUs I looked for are also down there. I am not the person who is like "I need everything on Ultra High Settings", I am thinking of "playable" (60 FPS and higher) even with Low Details. For the upgrade I have one main-issue and that is that my "new" GPU needs a DVI-Port to let my main monitor run 144Hz.

If there is anything else which would need an upgrade, please tell me, I would love to get everything sorted in the long-term.

Thanks in advance for your help and Happy Holidays (also stay safe and healthy 🙂)

Budget (including currency): 400,00€ (could be maxed to 500€ but I want to keep it at the minimum cost)

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Streaming in 1080p60FPS (with NVENC), Editing Media (Graphics and Videos mainly), playing Cyberpunk, DayZ, Valorant, League of Legends and GTA 5.

Other details:

Currently used parts

GPU Prices:

GTX 1070Ti: around 270€

GTX 1080:    around 300€

GTX 1080Ti: around 400€

You could wait a bit and try to get a 3060 Ti/ 3060. Hard to find, but WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY worth it. I also think that they are around 400€

yes, wait for budget RTX cards to come out and if they will be in your area for that price.

Some might be around 300-400 for RTX, and if AMD are going to do something in the future too.

Just hold your breath a little more, and you might have access to better hardware.

wait, dvi? all HDMI and DP now, maybe some on 2000 series? but eeh oh, don't know if dongles can do anything to help it out.

Hopefully your rig can handle such an upgrade :P
