low gpu usage

can someone help me i buy a new gpu my old was gtx 1050 2gb and now i have rtx3060ti

pc:rtx 3060ti

ryzen 7 2700x asus b450-f 

16gb dual channel bought 3000mhz

650watt bequit

my problem is i have on low settings same fps and as on high settings my gpu usage is on low settings 10-25% and on high i get 70-90%

How many fps and in what game?

 

That means you're limited by your CPU, not your GPU.

What game is this?  I had an R7 2700 and was rarely CPU locked with a 2070 even on the lowest of settings, admittedly the 3060Ti is a much better part but I am suprised at the numbers you quoted.

i tested in fortnite and in watch dogs 2 in watch dogs on lowest settings 50% on highest it get to 95%

Not surprised at the Watchdogs numbers to be honest, did you turn on nay RT functions or DLSS when you upped the settings?

but i dont care of watch dogs i buy new graphics card because i play fortnite competetive

Doing a quick google on Fortnite CPU usage and this isn't uncommon apparently. Not a game I play so no personal experience there but you are not alone.

So pretty definitely CPU bottleneck. If you had said 100 then there would have been another problem but not at 200.

So up the graphics settings a bit to make use of your GPU and live with it.

Kilrah is right, you re not alone in this Chris, i am with rtx2060 & i5 9300, my gpu usage is low in fortnite and i don t really feel comfortable in playing with high graph settings since i am on laptop, life expectancy woon t be going that far at high temeperatures.
