Hi everyone, I  currently having a massive issue with my system. Today I decided to install Asus Armoury Crate as I was having issues with both my Oled screen and aura switching effects straight after setting new ones.

This was originally the (minor) issue although when i restarted my system to apply anything settings Armoury Crate would need it hit me with a Error code B6.

This causes the system to appear to boot into a black screen. Initially it would says 'Clear CMON', which after a few failed boots turned to 'Clear DRAM'(I believe) and lastly , for last couple of hours 'Could not post' . All of these relate to the B6 Error Code.

I have spent the last couple of hours doing research on how to fix it and what were the possible causes for it but nothing seems to fix it. I am lucky enough to have hardware to test it with such as different CPU,Ram and motherboard.

What I have tried so far is to replace the ones previously mentioned, flash the bios using the flash button, restart from cold boot / safe boot , removing everything from case.

Specs:

•Asus Maximus Formula X

•I7 8700k (Stock)

•GTX 1080 Strix (Sold last night)

•Samsung 960 Evo 250GB (Boot)

•Samsung 860 Evo 500GB (Programs)

•Gskill Trident Z RGB 4x8GB 3200(2133mhz after clear CMOS last time it booted)

Sorry if I am being really descriptive but Im having a very hard time as it is my only system.

According to your motherboard's manual, a B6 code stands for "Clean-up of NVRAM". Did you already try clearing CMOS again (i.e. remove the battery)? Could also be the CMOS battery maybe just needs replacing. Otherwise it seems you've already tried a lot :/ Perhaps try going even more barebones with just 1 stick of RAM and only the boot drive connected?

Thanks for you reply, yes tried both the back button and removing the battery that only managed to change the code information under B6. Also tried to place a ram stick on each one of the slots at a time and yet nothing happened. Went as far as to look into RMA the board but happens that the warranty run out 12 days ago. Any more ideas let me know

Merry Christmas to you in advance

  • 1 month later...

Same issues, boot loop going on day 2 with b6 as my latest hurdle. Unplugged everything, reseated Ram, cleared cmos, removed battery. X299 deluxe variant, VGA led comes on and display readout says Post Error. Yesterday no messages, so perhaps progress has been made. Unsure what to do next. Black screen, and I had just installed a Thunderbolt expansion card, Titan Ridge 2.0 and changed one buffer setting in the BIOS before the boot loop began.
