ram and bottlenecking

I'm trying to run WoW on ultra at 1440p on a 144hz monitor. in most cases I get 50-60 fps.

some of my hardware is fairly old, but I thought my CPU would be fine still.. perhaps not.

 

W10 64 BIT
i7-6700k
Gigabyte 3070 eagle
16gb ddr4 ram @ 2133mhz
Ms905 motherboard - My board is a weird one from MSI - this pc was a pre-built.

is it my ram and cpu that's bottlenecking or is it the crappy motherboard?

A bit slow ram, motherboard might be a bit old too? (don't know)

For WoW, it should likely run better with GPU doing the workload, maybe the game isn't fully optimized?

It should maybe be totally fine for WoW, other games likely not so much.

Can you use something like MSI afterburner to see the load ingame?

Like what % of the GPU and CPU you use?

Would think both of them are fine, unless the CPU is running hot.

The gpu is usually around 85-100%. the cpu, it varies greatly. anywhere from 60-99%, although I'd say it's usually around 75%. 

 

the motherboard is a special made msi one they dropped in pre built pcs and 2133 mhz ram is the highest it can take

50 - 60 fps is playable. are you getting bad latency? are you on wifi?

I'm hardwired with sub 20ms ping. it's plwyab, I was just hoping to get more and from other bench marks it looks like it is capable of getting more

might be the cpu MB combo, and then get faster ram for the newer stuff.

or you can wait for next upgrade path in the future, or wait for a cheaper deal on a newer combo.

Also sure the GPU is cool too, not rendering anything useless?

(like nvidia control panel or any type of recording)

Would feel like it should get a bit more fps, maybe not by a lot since it is 2k.
You can also do benchmark or see if anyone else have dine tests in WoW with newer GPUs or with such spec.
