On the laptop (an ASUS TUF506IU) in question the keyboard(s) work in BIOS, and are displayed in device manager and detected in settings, both indicate that there is a driver issue. The issue emerged after plugging in and unplugging a new VR headset and could not be after reattempts. Current version of windows is a variant of 20H2. I am currently preparing to perform a windows reinstallation, and this is a final attempt at avoiding that.

Have you downloaded the latest drivers and software for your model. which I think is ASUS TUF Gaming A15 Driver & Tools | Laptops | ASUS USA  ?

Updated BIOS, chipset driver, and performed hotfix, all other drivers were up to date.
