DP cable no signal

just replaced my gpu and cpu but whenever i turn my pc on the first thing it says is “DP no signal” and then a black screen. The dp cable connection seems fine and the gpu is turning on but I can’t figure out what could be causing the problem.

Does your motherboard have onboard video? Test that if it does.

Sounds like you could have a DOA GPU, but you need to test a few things first.

Can you give us specs? (CPU, GPU, motherboard, PSU, RAM)

Ok, so no iGPU to test with... 

Do you have another cpu you can test with? Possibly a 2000 or 1000 series? It could be an out of date BIOS that needs an update for 3000 series chips.

Try swapping that out and see if that works.If it does, you need a bios update before the B450 board will work with it.

Gonna be honest I don’t know how to update the bios... and am i gonna need to reapply thermal paste or should i even bother with using a cooler on the old cpu to update the bios.

I'll post a video at the end of this post for updating the BIOS. I would just reuse the thermal paste on the cooler for the old CPU, just to update the bios. 

After updating the bios, I would reapply thermal paste for the new CPU.
