I've been troubleshooting this thing for almost a year now. I were ready to let it go after 6 months when I randomly decided to plug It up and it came on.

At this point I have done absolutely everything I can think of and the only thing that works is leaving it alone for a few days. It will work until the power goes out in my home.

It decided to boot a few days ago so I took the time to test for bad ram. (One stick ded)

I did 10 or more test boots.  Powered on/off quickly and flawlessly every time. So I decided to test something odd. I removed the power cord and pressed the power button to discharge the pc. Discharging returned it to this limbo no post state. In this state the pc takes 5 seconds of holding the power to shut down with a second or 2 delay for powering on.

When Its normal there are no power delays and the fans spin faster(even without the ram) HDD led works too.

While not likely, it could be that the CMOS battery is discharged, or it could be something related to the capacitors since the only things that can happen if you leave it plugged in for a couple of days that didn't happen before is for something to charge. At this point I don't think it's worth trying to troubleshoot it, might be best to just sell the parts and build something else.

Bought a new cmos battery first.

Sorry I meant leaving it unplugged for a few days.

When I unplug it for a while and return the thing works again.

I just find it odd that discharging it like most sites recommend is what keeps throwing it into this no post state.

2 hours ago, BiL said:

Try a new PSU first, tier C and above.

When I say everything I SWEAR EVERYTHING.

Swapping psu were one of the first set of things I tried.

It does work again though.  My ancient dell opti psu saved the day and somehow my ram stick works again?!?

I don't trust this comp at all. Thanks though buddy.
