Shortcuts for changing Audio and Video i/o?

Scruffy90

I want to be able to hit a hotkey and have Windows switch my default audio inputs and outputs to specific devices.

  • Recording - I want to switch from mic 1 to mic 2
  • Playback - Switch default comm device 1 to device 2
  • Playback - default device from monitor to headset

For video, I'm not even sure how to approach it. My rig is connected to 4 devices. My 3 ultrawides in room A and my TV in room B. I want to be able to either

  • A - change the main screen on the fly. Say make the TV the main screen and then back to my center monitor
  • B - Disconnect the 3 ultrawides in windows and reenable them.

How would I approach these two situations? Is there software or something I could create that would do this for me?

I think (it's been a while since I tried) you can do all of this in DisplayFusion.

From what I've seen with DisplayFusion (at least in their documentation), it is limited to mostly Window management. I haven't seen anything regarding changing the main monitor or making a new monitor in the main.

Again, IIRC, you can set monitor profiles (arrangements and selected active displays) and then you can bind shortcuts to those profiles.

DisplayFusion can change monitor settings  with profiles (which you can bound to hotkeys or events). Its not fast like a snap. It still takes few seconds to load profile settings, like it would if you manually change monitor settings in Windows.

Audio settings can be saved to per monitor profile. But there are also feature which allows to to change them on the fly with hotkeys or from quick list. Though its limited to selecting next/previous device, not going directly to certain device. There are scripts/macros made by users to limit available devices to just those you want https://www.displayfusion.com/ScriptedFunctions/View/?ID=1a08e51d-3210-4433-a507-76cae4bc7b1f

And ofc you could use AutoHotKey. For audio https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=49980 and for monitors https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/20084-secondary-monitor/
