Usb header

Go to solution Solved by TetraSky,

It will probably be ok, but considering it doesn't have an external power source (like a molex connector), it may run out of power for everything you want to plug on it.

Then again, I think these fans are plugged on the 12V and simply being controlled by the USB header, right? Well, it should be good.

Do keep in mind, this is a PCB. A bare PCB without any sort of plastic cover. While it might have a thing underneath it (foam?) to keep it from touching the metal chassis directly, if you don't position it right, you may still end up with a short.

Hey so I am going to be building a new pc and I need a bit of help. So I will be using a MSI b550-a pro which only has two usb 2.0 headers on the motherboard. In total I need three because I’m using NZXT c850 psu, kraken x73 rgb, and hue 2 triple fan kit which will all need to be plugged into a usb header. Now to the question, is it more beneficial to get the NZXT internal usb hub 3 or to just get a splitter for the usb to have exact amount I need. Tbh I have no idea what else can be plugged into the hub and if it is beneficial to just spend the extra money now or don’t bother because I won’t need in future cuz nothing else plugs into it??? Thanks for the help in advanced

Get whichever is cheaper or looks better to you.

Keep in mind, a proper splitter looks something like this

Spoiler

9pin USB Header Male 1 to 2 Female Extension Splitter Cable 9P Connector Adapter: Amazon.ca: Electronics

Not this

Or, you could just not buy that stuff because a permanent lightshow in your PC case is the single most pointless thing to have in a computer.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x16GB DDR4-3200

Lol, you are definitely right about not needing all the lights since they do nothing for it’s performance. I was looking at it earlier on Amazon and away that cable and also this one and was wondering if it is still good to have four like in the pic below?
