Upgrading from i7 4470

Hi. I'm on a budget trying to upgrade from my i7 4770 to something newer as the board doesn't really work with my new case.
Any recommendations. I'm only 16 in the UK so nothing majorly expensive

Intel i would wait for 11th i5

amd i would get 5600x

Why are you upgrading? What do you do and use with the cpu?

Mostly play games and use autoesk inventor

If you want an upgrade from that you will need cpu motherboard and ram.  A good upgrade would be ryzen 5600x if they are available in your country and a b550 motherboard.  If you want to go intel, right now there's the i5 10600k that is interesting to pair with a z490 motherboard.  Not as powerful as the ryzen 5600x but it might be at a more interesting price in the current situation.  You can always wait for the next gen intel if you want too, supposed to be there first quarter of 2021.   For a bid lower tier than those two in gaming you could get a ryzen 3600 and a x470 or b450 motherboard.

 

As for the ram 3200 or 3600 is about the sweetspot for the price and you can always try to overclock it.
