I recently tried to clean my pc back to factory and then move my windows OS over to a samsung 970 EVO 500Gb stick. It would not let me on my old motherboard because of uefi/legacy issues, so i had to revert back to old windows. Along the way of doing that i used EaseUS software to try to clone my OS to the SSD, but in the process it made me install a 'second' OS from EaseUS. When my computer rebooted i had 2 boot options but the EaseUS option would just black screen me. I uninstalled EaseUS to try to remove its OS but it is still there and now i cant update anything on my pc that requires a restart (mainly windows) and i cant reset my pc because it stops it when it tries to restart. I need MAJOR help.

My pc:

Cpu: ryzen 9 3600xt

Motherboard: msi MEG x570 Unify

Ram: corsair 64GB @ 3200

Storage: 1Tb wd blue

                 500Gb Samsung EVO

GPU: EVGA GTX 1070

Download Windows 10 and format. That, is the only true way to get it back to "factory", unless you have a proper backup image of the time you had just installed Windows. (Which you clearly don't from what you're saying)

If you need to clone a drive, next time use clonezilla live.

Alright, so i have the windows usb iso ready, how do i go about wiping the HDD and installing it cleanly? i dont want to have the EaseUS OS when it reboots and i cant wipe my drives without a reatart that sends me right back to the main issue

When you begin the Windows 10 installation (making sure you've booted from the USB), it'll ask you on what partition you want to install it. Just delete all the existing partitions, then make a new one. The installation will create a few extra ones that Windows requires, and EaseUS will be gone for good.

WARNING: If you have extra partitions for data or other non-OS usage, make sure you have a backup before deleting them.

Edit: Since this started by trying to clone to an SSD, you should probably install to that, keeping your HDD as it is.

Can you help me figure out how to install it to the SSD then, every time i try installing to the SSD it just send me through a loop of windows installing, restarting, and then needing to install windows again.

I assume you start the install, and then it requests a reboot to finish? If that's the case, remove your USB drive at that point (or change your boot order in the BIOS.) it's probably just looping back to the USB and beginning the install all over again.

I booted from the uefi usb iso, installed it to the ssd, and then it restarted, i removed the usb and booted from the ssd and it asked me to install windows again (no usb in the pc) so i do that, and it just repeats this process iver and over until i re-connect my HDD and boot from that with all the os issues i have there. Its been a frustrating 2 week process.

I just finished trying this method again and it requires multiple restarts. As soon as it hit the first restart it saw both OS's and reverted any changes back to where i started and canceled itself.

I can't say I've ever encountered something like that before, so hopefully someone else can chime in. Just spitballing, but it could be Secure Boot or some other BIOS shenanigans. Maybe play with some of those settings.

You've clearly done something wrong then. If you format, there should be NOTHING remaining and it shouldn't just reboot multiple times. Once or twice is all that is needed, and only AFTER it has installed most of the stuff. You may need to disable SecureBoot if you got that enabled, but last I tried with Secureboot, it wouldn't even let me boot to USB.

First off, to avoid making a mistake, if you have multiple harddrives or SSDs, disconnect all of them, except the one you want windows on. Then,

Boot onto the USB drive at POST

It should start the windows install process and you should be seeing this screen after choosing your language and OS version :

How to: Perform a Clean Install or Reinstall of Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

Click on Custom.

Then you will be seeing every partitions on the PC, something like this
How to create custom partition to install Windows 10 • Pureinfotech

Now if you only have the SSD plugged in, click on EVERY partition, and click the DELETE button. On ALL of them.

Don't leave anything.

Once that's done, you will only have Drive (0) Unallocated Space. From there, click on Next, it will automatically create all the partition needed and install windows. No need to make them manually by pressing New or whatever else.
