Hey, what's up guys!

I have recently purchased a rtx 3070 for close to msrp, since a local retailer had one in stock, I am, however, observing very weird behaviour with this Card.

My setup is:

Cpu: R5 3600

Mobo: MSI B450 A Pro Max

PSU: Silverstone ST60F-ES230

GPU: Asus 3070 Dual (non OC)

RAM: Dual Channel 16GB CL16 3000MHz Gskill Aegis

i get weird frametime spikes with this Card, I haven't gotten any on my old GPU though (GTX 1080 Ti Strix), It is especially noticeable in a game like Apex, it doesn't suffer from frame drops per se, the frametimes are just way off with the 3070

I suspect my PSU could also be the culprit, since I have tested the 3070 in a System of a friend of mine, where it doesn't suffer from these type of frametime spikes, he does have a 3700x instead, I don't believe that would make any difference.

Also scrolling when 3D content is played in windows makes the PC stutter too, it almost feels like the part where I'm scrolling, if there's a video playing, is at half framerate (i.e. 75 instead of 144), i don't observe this kind of behaviour on my 1080 ti, at least not nearly as often.

I already tried DDUing the Driver multiple times, I reinstalled windows, reinstalled the games, all games in question are running off a Sata SSD, I made sure PBO and XMP are enabled

Thermals of the 3070 while playing: ~70C, CPU ~76C

Any help is appreciated!

(sorry for my party broken english, I don't natively speak it)

Amazing English except for "I" is capitalized when on its own.

I agree with the power supply thought - it's only 80+ white, not bronze, silver, or gold.

80+ Gold is the minimum for Ampere, really.

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.

Sounds like its time for a new PSU as that one is not providing stable power to your new GPU. Oh and this time, a quality unit to deal with the transient current draws of the RTX 30 series cards. If you don't know what to pick, choose from the PSU Tier List.

First of all, thanks for the quick answers guys!

There is one part that confuses me though, the 1080 ti supposedly draws more watts from the PSU than the 3070, could it still be the culprit though?

I planned on replacing my PSU asap anyways, i thought about getting a quality seasonic or thermaltake one, thanks for forwarding me the list!

idk if this is totally similar but my 3060ti has bad frame srops the first 3 or 4 times i play a game and eventually it goes away second i get low frame rates on my desktop and in video play back which is fixed by resetting pc idk if these are the exact issues you are having but this has been my solution i would assume its just drivers tbh also i have a 700watt psu so if these are the same issues your having i dont think its your psu

There's not really any point guessing if you're going to replace it anyway, just do it and see what happens.  If it doesn't fix it we can continue from there.

You can get frame drops as the new shaders are compiled, especially after a change of GPU.

I don't have framedrops per se, it's the frametimes that are very inconsistent, I've seen spikes into the 60s at time, which makes gaming unplayable

scrolling with a video opened in the background always cuts my fps while scrolling in half.

hmm idk i personally think it may be drivers just because ya you only have a 600watt but the card is like what 250 watts and a 3600 pulls 65 watts max
