How much does finance play a role in young adult relationships

5 figures isn't that much. Engineering programs cost around $6600 a term, then living expenses are a few thousand more on top of that. Even after working every other term, I'm probably gonna be a few thousand short when you add in living expenses, at least until third year.

Fortunately I have to go to the army next year (conscription) so I'll get some income :C

Its gets to be more of an issue the older you get, I'm 25 and I would find it difficult to be with someone who can't manage their money. At this stage in life I'm saving for a deposit and would hope that the person I was dating would have similar plans so its not a one sided relationship where you're supporting them all the time with no reciprocation if they are working full time but just pissing money away and relying on you to pay the bills or just not contributing to the household if owned/rented jointly.
