ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 or Fractal Design Celsius+ S28 Dynamic

Hey sup everyone,

 

Trying to decide between these two AIO's to replace my stock 3700x cooler and future 5900x cooler.

Was going to go with a Nzxt or Corsair at first but heard the newer one's you deal with bad pump sound at certain rpm.

 

So now I'm trying to decide between these two. My plan is to put 2x of my Corsair QL140 fans on either the front or back of the RAD for push and pull in my p600s case.

 

Anyone have experience with either of these and can comment on the pump noise? I do like the look of the fractal a bit more fit my build better, but I heard the Arctic is amazing. I can get either of them right now. The Fratcal is about 30-40 more only thing. I could also get a x63 Kraken for same price but heard bad things about pump noise.

 

Let me know watcha think will help me alot, been trying to decide on a cooler for 6 days now

Be aware about clearance issues with Liquid Freezer II though. Tomahawk has top M.2 heatsink similarly as my X570-E, No one is mentioning how oversized the mounting "scaffolding" is for Liquid Freezer II block. Just so you won't run into problems... It performs great on my Ryzen 5800X, but mounting is rather clumsy and oversized...

I'm so confused trying to pick out a 280m AIO so I can put my 2x QL140mm on it. Need to figure it out soon lol.

Oh shoot great to know thanks, I think the m.2 is a little bit farther away on the tomahawk when looking at pictures, but still close esp the top vrm's.

 

By the way how do you like the Liquid Freezer? In terms of pump noise, also I plan to use it as a push/pull config with 2x of my QL140 so hopefully my p600s is bigger enough in front for that.

 

 

I swear picking a AIO is so hard lol, I wish the nzxt or corsair one's didnt have such bad pump noise or I probably would or just did one of those. I gotta find out how the Fractal peforms/sounds, I heard its quiet though.

Temps are good, but I'm getting weird resonating noise from my new system and I haven't pinpointed yet where it's coming from. Didn't have it on my old X99 platform so it can only be either a pump or the fans on the radiator, old fans are fine (should be as they go through fan hub, but I have to test and might not be LFII's fault). Fans on it are controlled by the CPU block unit and you only connect it to single header. And I have bad experience with things operating from single header as I always had this weird resonating issue (which I solved with SATA powered PWM fan hub). After using the fan hub, the resonating nonsense was gone. By resonating imagine constant fan hiss and then it does slight "woooom" in repeating cycles every second or so in the background of that. It drives me insane. I was looking at this one coz it was relatively cheap and well performing and EK's D-RGB 240. Didn't like all the RGB I don't want and Arctic has VRM fan which I did like.

So kind of confused so after you plugged the fans into a pwm fan hub all pump noise/fan noise was gone?

 

Yea I also really like the EK-DRGB but the 360 version but its sold out everywhere, I have heard issues of it leaking though. Only other one I'd consider is the Lian Li Galahead Silver 360 buts its also sold out everywhere.

 

I think I may just go with Noctua NH-D15 like I was going to orginally, I really wanted a AIO but dont wan to deal with these pump issues. Even if the Noctua will kill my build look.

As it turns out, it was the fans on the Liquid Freezer II AiO. They have incredibly well designed blades, one of rare I've seen to have AC logo actually embossed into the rotor plastic and is dead centered, the rotor supporting structure is aerodynamic and it even has wires vertically so they are super thin compared to others. All this just to cheap out on the back of the fan that feels like really nasty hard cheap plastic. And it was that causing vibrations to go through the radiator in a really nasty way. I can't believe how they couldn't fit some rubber on the back side to negate vibrations on such otherwise sophisticated fan construction. Oh and they were screwed in so tightly the fan frame was literally bent on corners. Even loosening them didn't help with vibrations.

 

And to make matters worse, the fans are jammed so tightly together and against the tubes coming from radiator that I can't use rubber frames that I have as they are sticking out of fan frame and wrap around the edge and there just isn't space for that. So I had to use silicone washers. Which fix the resonating noise, but also create a gap where I'm losing static pressure. So, I'll have to find silicone gaskets for 12mm fans to kill vibrations and ensure tight fit on the radiator, but have to be ones that don't go beyond the frame of the fan. And if I won't be able to find one, I'll have to sacrifice some and cut them. Eh, silly engineering problems because someone was cutting corners or not doing enough testing under different conditions. And over tightened the screws etc...
