HDMI port detection issues

On my Win 10 Laptop, Acer Predator 17X, the HDMI cable and secondary display are only detected after I plug it in a third time... I can plug it in once and wiggle it a bit then wait, nothing will happen. I can unplug it then plug it in again, nothing. But only after the third insertion will the secondary monitor get signal from my system. My system also retains the secondary monitor sometimes even after I unplug it... It just thinks the monitor is still plugged in. These issues have occurred on five separate occasions, even after driver reinstallation. I believe it only happens on HDMI, I have not tried DisplayPort yet...
