SATA controller for SSD, AHCI or IRST?

JPatrick15

I've been using my SSD m.2 for almost a month now. I just found out that the SATA controller set on my bios is IRST instead of AHCI.

Do I need to change it to AHCI, since I'm not planning to ise intel optane or Raid?

Will it increase performNce of my SSD?

I would switch to AHCI and see what happens.

Use CrystalDiskMark to compare performance.

If you change it now, Windows might just crash and not even start up. You could try and switch it at least. But if not, I wouldn't worry much about it. Just be sure to switch to AHCI the next time you reinstall Windows.
