I am thinking of getting a mechanical keyboard and im wondering, coming from membrane, what switch would be the easiest to use? I am very heavy on my keystrokes and do alot of gaming (mainly fps and LoL)

Sounds like Cherry MX Blue or Green (Green is rare)

From my experience from membrane to mech, you make alot of typos in the beginning, but after a week or 2, you will make more typos on membrane.

It feels much better with typing and gaming than membrane.

I went from membrane to Cherry MX Reds, and find them so much nicer to type with, had issues for the first hour, then everything was fine but still made like 1 mistake an hour for about a week. Now 1 month on and typing like i have had it for years.

When I went from membrane to mechanical I went to blue switches and fell in love with them... I can't really use anything else now without them feeling awful. I bottom out my switches a lot of the time from habit and that in no way took away from the experience for me, but as @ said browns would probably be your best bet. Blacks could work too, but these are really heavy, but you did say you press really hard on your keys so... Just food for thought!

EDIT: I forgot about greens!

I am one of those people who just prefers membrane keyboards. I like the feel better and I can still type very fast and accurately.

Well, i think i push hard... imo i do but i'm not sure how hard you guys tap your keys

Edit: i can definitely push harder and still type, so i'd say medium-hard

Also, i'm afraid of getting used to mechanical keys then having to die from membrane keys at school

I have used mechanical at home for I think about 2ish years now but I have a membrane at work where I do a lot of typing. I have seriously considered to bring a keyboard from home but I have chosen not to because I work in an open office environment and I don't want to be the noisy guy =) lets just say I get by. It's no big deal really, I just brings you alot more joy when you get home ;)

Why would you listen to me? I'm just some random guy on the internet!

I just did this not 2 days ago, bought a logitech g710+ that uses browns (also has o rings to make it quiet) they are clicky but not as click as stuff like blues, so they are really easy to bottom out like membrane, but you start to realise that you can be much lighter on the key and have it register, im already starting to notice i hammer less on the keyboard and have less wrist strain

i have no issue double pressing keys too which i was worried about

If its mainly for gaming Id say reds. With the lowest actuation force reds are the best for gaming imo. The actuation force is a downside for typing tho . Here's a good introduction to each cherry mx switch. http://www.keyboardco.com/blog/index.php/2012/12/an-introduction-to-cherry-mx-mechanical-switches/  Razer also make there own mechanical switch now. It is a little heavier then reds but the actuation point is like 0.4mm lower. So they actuate faster.Supposed be the first true gaming switch.I haven't tried them yet but they do sound very good on paper.

I use Black and Blues daily. The Blues are nicer to game on imo, but they're a bit too clunky for long typing sessions. I use Blacks when typing for long periods of time.
