Hey guys planning on building a pc for my mum she will use it for word google some youtube or tvnz ondemand nothing overly difficult however ive had to convince her not to get a netbook or a budget notebook. It will likely be hooked up to a 42" 1080p tv and she will use it on the couch with a wireless keyboard and mouse. i reckon ive got most of the parts list down but need some advice with cpu and gpu combos.

case:http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=CHAZAL0002&name=Zalman-ZM-T2-mATX-Mini-Tower-PC-Case-%28NO-PSU%29---Lu will probs get an extra 120mm fan for intake

mobo: can vary depending on my cpu choice but whichever one is cheapest with usb 3.0 and has the pci slots necesary for a possible gpu and a wireless card. (if your adding up the price all the mobos are around$90-$100)

wireless card: http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=NETTPL0852&name=TP-LINK-TL-WN851ND-300M-Wireless-N-PCI-Adapter-Ath

ram: should i drop to 4gb?

ssd: http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=HDDINT4122&name=Intel-120GB-530-Series-SSDSC2BW120A4K5-2.5--SATA3- intel is suppossed to be reliable (says the holy linus)

power supply: http://www.pp.co.nz/products.php?pp_id=AA41677

CPU and GPU either:

a kaveri APU :http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=CPUAMD7700&name=AMD-Latest-A10-7700K-4-Core-3.5Ghz-4MB-Cache-Socke

a i5: http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=CPUIT4440&name=Intel-Haswell-Core-i5-4440-3.1GHz-6MB-LGA1150--%28H8

a am3 cpu and cheap gpu most expensive: http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=CPUAMD6300&name=AMD-FX-6300-Six-Core-Black-Editon-3.5-GHz-Turbo-Co

http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=VGASAP8250&name=Sapphire-R7-250-2G-DDR3-PCI-E-Video-card---HDMI+-D (asus does a 1gb card with gddr5 shoud I get that one instead if i go with this setup?)

thanks in advance guys and would appreciate some quick replies as planning to buy tonight or early tomorrow oh and if yo hadnt figured it out im in NZ and have a budget of less than $900NZD.

Why not get a notebook instead though? It seems like it would be more practical in this case.

the notebooks and prebuilt stuff over here is absolute crap and i want this system to last. with this i can upgrade it a few years down the line. also the notebooks in this price range are crap like thishttp://www.harveynorman.co.nz/computers/laptops/hp-pavilion-touchsmart-11-e005au.html or this http://www.harveynorman.co.nz/computers/laptops/toshiba-satillite-c50d-a022.html each representing the limits of the price range. by getting a small desktop she can get the joys of 1080p a overall much faster system something i can upgrade and troubleshoot for her and a decent couch experience. what ive found when looking at laptops is that there are three types. Netbooks=dirt cheap small and portable but crappy performance and lifespan. Ultrabooks= acceptable performance nice form factor but are expensive and have limited output options. notebooks= decent performance reasonable price but arelarge heavy and just over all bulky they also require large power bricks and get very hot when not on a desk (especially HP). this is why i chose the desktop route.

prefer a quad core and a 650 costs more over here than the r7 250. :( NZ is soo overpriced.

get an apu. a dual core trinity or richland will do the job and be cheaper than kaveri
