Laptop not waking

Hi everyone,

 

I have an Acer aspire 1, N17Q4. when the pc goes to sleep i can wiggle the mouse, press keys or even tap the power button and it will not wake. i have to hold the power button until the power indicator goes off and then i can tap it to turn it back on. even that sometimes doesnt work and i have to hold it again to power off and turn on again. I have reset windows and messed with a few things like turning sleep off, but that just makes it so when you close the laptop the screen stays on and everything which obviously isnt good. Acer are just telling me to send it to be checked by them but i think its out of warranty now, but even still this surely should just be a small issue..? all i can think at this point after resetting windows is that its possibly a bios issue...? thanks everyone in advance.
