CPU Overclocking? and some choices to make...

Basically, as Linus said: "The fastest you can get is the speed of the slowest component in your system." (or somewhere along those lines) In this case, my hypothesis is that the CPU is my slowest component. These are the benchmarks I have. Some of these, I can't give exact data as the game don't provide them... I don't use FRAPS.

Resident Evil 6: Runs smoothly on High Settings at 800x600, sometimes laggy on Medium-Low Settings on 1024x768

Resident Evil 5: 15-17 fps (as taken from their benchmarking tool that's included)

Medal of Honor: Runs smoothly on Maximum Settings at 1024x768 but freezes occasionally.

PCSX2: (As taken from my post in the Facebook Forum):

KH1: 55-60 fps but crashes randomly (tested on the Awakening portion)

KH Re:CoM: 34-45 (tested on Marluxia boss fight)
KH2FM: 30-45 with frequent drops to 15 fps (tested on Roxas' data fight, Sephiroth fight, 1000 Heartless fight, Hallow Bastion roaming and Roxas' Day 1)

Now, This may sound awkward to you, but these are my requests

1. What Processor and Motherboard should I use? (choices in my signature)

2. I want to overclock those CPUs using the stock cooler for a tiny bit. Can 2.3 - 2.5 GHz do it? If so, how?

1.E2180, I Dont know about the motherboard though.

2.Stock cooler? noooo nononononononononono. You'll burn it out

EDIT: Not burn it out but if you want to risk it..

Aight googled abit:

Software?
Well..You could raise the vcore a bit..
Download Setfsb and use that..
Example:
ICS9LPRS419DFLF or
CV110JPVG or
RTM866-485
RTM876-665
The real way to find your PLL is to look at the square chip that's near an oblong silver diode on your motherboard. If it has a Realtek monster or whatever..it'll be Realtek.
If not;Try to get the numbers off of the chip.

How to use Serfsb:

Ok..You download Setfsb here: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/download/SetFSB,0305-23048....
then put those numbers into the box..and one should work.
Then you click the arrows to the right and "setfsb"

But i dont recommend that motherboard...

Have you checked to see whether the cpu is under full load in games or is it being the cpu an assumption

GT 210 is the biggest issue, it's hardly better than the iGPU on your C2D.

Hey there's this new thing, it's called sense. Maybe you should try to make some.

Its in full load in games...

"hardly better" my ass (no offence there, but true)... GeForce 210 kicks the hell out of my C2D's iGPU... C2D's iGPU can't even play PCSX2...

he is mistaking it for intel's iGPU's from 2010+ which actually will outperform a 210 xD anyway, you need a brand new system man, 2 gigs of ram is super low and buying more ram would be costly for DDR2. get an AMD FX 6300 and a mobo. and a gtx 750 Ti or something, else an APU

No I wasn't, the 210 is crap. It's not even worth the effort it took to build it.

@OP The whole system needs to be replaced as upgrading it would net you terrible performance per dollar. A 6300/750 Ti will suit you nicely without breaking the bank.

What Linus says is the speed of your system is held back, determined or capped by the slowest component in your system. It would be nice to have a budget for your upgrade.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

i think your best bet is to save up some money, and make a full upgrade.

As for the overclock, it would help, but not a lot since the gt210 is not being held back by the cpu.
