I haven't posted anything on the forum yet, so I thought I'd post my specs. I was also wondering if anyone else uses this Xeon. I'll probably link a picture later today. That's if I can do that after I post this. Forum noob here!

Any reason you're going for a xeon? They're not strictly gaming CPUs honestly, they're made to run servers mostly. They're meant to run long and cool at a low clock speed, while a normal cpu like the i3/i5/i7 sandy/ivy bridge are meant to run strong and hotter at a higher clock speed. Honestly i think you'd do better to go for a 3570k if this is strictly a gaming pc.

This. EXCEPT if you also render on the same machine, that's where they really shine.

Don't think i can agree with Frestylezz here, A 3770k can preform better in cinebench (but it does cost a decent amount more). Also you loose most of the best features of an Xeon by using a consumer motherboard, namely EEC support. The thing i like about this particular Xeon is its competitive price point and the fact the iGPU is disabled. where it could do better is if say you went with the E3-1230V2 and a gtx 670 over a 3770k and a 660ti and you were using rendering software that was cuda enabled, e.g premier.

Hi L0nerism

From one noob to another, I think Your specs for the setup looks good.

I use the 1240v2 with an ASUS Workstation Board.

If its one thing I would like to comment on its the RAM.

I use 16GB 1600MHz, and upping from 1333MHz did wonders for the graphics performance.

Nice build! I love the case (I have a 210 myself, they actually look very similar!) and love the cable management! The Xeon in nice, although a new cpu cooler would be nice, but if you're not overclocking then it should be fine. Are you planning on eventually adding another 660ti?
I've got my Hyper 212+ cooling it once again. I have no future plans of adding another 660ti.

I can vouch for xeons not being good for gaming. I have built a system with (2) 1.1k usd e5-2643 xeons and honesty you cannot tell the difference in gaming if you were to use a single 3960/70x xeons are workhorses not powerhouses. But what I will say is that I have a knack for xeons. I think they are cool so you get props from me my friend :)

I love the look of a dual xeon system even if it isn't the best in games but still not many people can say "I have a 8 core xeon for my computer and 2 of them at that" But all in all I love xeons they really are long lasters and they do decent in heavy CPU games such as arma.
