The 5600x isn't great for editing, but it will get the job done, and its significantly better than the 1700x she already has. Also, try to get faster RAM (3600mhz CL16). Other than that it looks ok, but if you want to upgrade later down the line you would need a new CPU cooler

If she's on a tight budget, the 5600X will work fine, and is stil an upgrade over a 1700X in rendering and encoding workloads.

Notes: Zen 3 currently benefits significantly from Quad-DIMM configurations. It is my reccomendation to buy a 2nd set of 8 GB 3200 CL14 DIMM's, and run it together with the older memory.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Fedora 38 x86_64

Secondary: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Fedora 38 x86_64

Server: AMD Athlon PRO 3125GE, 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 ECC, TrueNAS Core 13.0-U5.1

Home Laptop: Intel Core i5-L16G7, 8 GB 4267 MHz LPDDR4x, Windows 11 Home 22H2 x86_64

Work Laptop: Intel Core i7-10510U, NVIDIA Quadro P520, 8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x86_64

with a tight budget, go for the 3700x, so that she doesn't have to change motherboard too.

Those cl 14s she got were from a lucky draw, you can't find cl 14s cheap in Singapore.

They are expensive as ****.

I'll get her a quad set of cl15s.

Either way she needs to change the mb it's bios can't be updated the rev 1 version won't allow the bios update for 3000 series it's dead in the water. I checked with gigabyte.
