Is Razer Synapse worth installing again? I was wondering whether the program has gotten better over the years or not.

I have a Naga Epic & had the legacy software before I installed Windows 8 (Currently not using any software with the mouse).

It does cause driver problems for me. So in my case NO.

Last time I used it the DPI settings were terrible for my mouse, scared to even attempt it again.

Well, it works for my Blackwidow 2013. I see no reason not to install it.

I personally have had a terrible experience using synapse.

For obvious reasons I didn't want to do firmware updates unless I was actively going to make sure everything would run smoothly.

However synapse had other ideas, tried to upgrade firmware, failed, bricked my blackwidow which had to be sent back, and hence couldn't be fixed, that was the first and last time I bought a razer product.

Yeah... synapse is shit, but when it's working it's super handy, especially for a picky mouse user like me :P (600 dpi 6/11 or go home)

If you've got memory onboard the device it should store settings once razer synapse is uninstalled (unplug it first before uninstalling), I'm not 100% sure but probably around 95% sure, anyway, It couldn't hurt to try.

I switched to linux a couple weeks ago, without thought of razer synapse, but it keeps my dpi and what not in its memory so as long as don't need to change any settings my mouse works like I want it to :D
