yeah you can add 16 more, but I recommend only 8GB more. 24GB is more than one would need for gaming.

you can use the money you saved and sell your i3, then buy an i5-6600

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

the K CPUs, especially the 7th gen CPUs, are overpriced. If you're buying a nice expensive CPU upgrade, I recommend selling your motherboard as well and getting a Ryzen CPU.

For example, the cheapest 7600K on eBay right now is about $160 USD, while the Ryzen 3 3100 new is $110 or so and a decent B450 board is around $70. The i5-6600 is usually under $100 and if you bid on one you might even get a better price.

most of the time it is completely fine. different capacities in the same motherboard doesn't have any explicit compatibility problems.

More info -
If you want a 7700K its around $300 on the used market (you can't buy it new")
And with 300 dollars you could buy a Ryzen 5 3600, and a decent B450 MOBO. The R5 3600 has 2 more cores, and 4 more threads than the 7700k, while having better gaming performance.
Kinda useless info but I just wanted to share this :)
