Hi!

I'm looking for a preferably free Virtualization software that would allow two users to use the same computer at the same time. This computer has two monitors connected to single graphics card. I can easily connect second keyboard and mouse to it.

So I'm looking for a Virtualization software that would allow setting up 2 desktops where first desktop would be displayed on first monitor and receive inputs from first keyboard and mouse and second desktop would be displayed on second monitor and receive input from second keyboard and mouse. Also being able to play sound from each desktop to separate sound output would also be needed. The said computer does have 5.1 sound card available.

In short I would like to allow two kinds to be doing online education on the same computer at the same time, which basically means watching two online presentations on separate desktops with separate sound outputs (two headphones).

I know that in WMware Workstation Pro I could set so that guest system is receiving input from second keyboard and mouse. In fact the guest system is the only one that see the second keyboard and mouse connected. But I haven't figured out how to output the sound from guest system to for instance back-out output on the sound card instead of mixing it with the sound of host computer on default font-out line.

Also I'm not doing this for myself but for my friend who does not have licence to WMware Workstation and from what I have read on internet WMware player does not support catching the input from second keyboard and mouse only as WMware workstation can.

You don't even need vms to do this. You can use programs like aster to have 2 users on one pc with no vms at all, and gives devices to each users workstation.

I have just tried Aester and I must say that I'm impressed. It is fairly easy to set up and offers everything that I require. But it is not free so I would still like to learn about possible free alternatives.
