Monitor cable, what does it do?

Hey all, this monitor cable that comes with my Samsung G, what does it do? And do i need to use it or?? 
i am connecting the screen with a display-port cable so do i need this??

You probably have some USB ports on your monitor. The cable pictured is to connect these USB ports from the hub in the monitor to your PC.

It's optional, unless you want to use this USB hub in the monitor.

It's a USB cable to connect your monitor to your PC and use it as a USB hub.

 

Not needed unless you want to use the USB ports for data on your monitor. They'll still work for power without it if you just want to use them to charge things.
