Cpu usage in task manager

Hey, so I’m playing new watchdogs and having  The usual ubishite issues.

 

However it’s come to my attention that in task manager I show 90 percent cpu usage whilst I’m hwinfo 64 msi afterburner and icue there all showing the same and much lower reading of 60 percent usage 

 

what’s the most reliable reading as I’m sure watchdogs isn’t crippling my 8700k at 5ghz to 100 percent usage

Use the Task Manager Details tab. It is more realistic.

 

The percentage on the main screen and graph are inflated by the percentage of turbo boost your CPU uses. 5.0 GHz / 3.7 GHz is an inflation factor of 35%. Not sure why so few people notice this.

 

90% X 3.7 GHz / 5.0 GHz = 66%

 

This is a bigger problem with mobile CPUs since they have a much lower base multiplier with a very high turbo multipler.
