My PC beeps once but it's not posting

I have a PC that's was running perfectly fine and I decided that I wanted to upgrade the cpu. I had a pentium 20th year anniversary edition and it was fine but I saw a i7 4770 for 90 bucks the other day and I bought it. I changed cpus and it didn't boot so I switched back and it booted I did this a couple of times to see if I could figure out the problem but now my old cpu won't boot either. I need this computer for school and now I'm not sure what to do. Please give me any advice on what to do???

assuming all the parts are compatible, put in your old cpu and try updating chipset drivers. if that doesn't work, check basic things such as RAM seating and cooler pressure. You could also try clearing the CMOS by taking out the battery for about 30 seconds and reseating it

The issue is that my old cpu is no longer booting and I'm not sure why the fans all turn on the LEDs and I hear a single beep but no post

hm, well the most important thing now is to get your old CPU working i think, have you tried any troubleshooting steps? also see what one beep means in your motherboard manual, that might help narrow down the issue

could be the bios. I had an issue with the bios on my system and try to reset the bios by removing the cmos battery and then putting it back in. worked for me and might work for you.

Did you make sure you didn't accidentally damage the socket when changing the CPUs?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad
