Hey guys,

So as I've said in my recent posts, I'm going to be building a gaming rig at the end of November.

Now I only plan to install 16gb ddr4 3200, but I wondered if I wanted to upgrade to 32 later. Would it be better to run 4 X 8 or 16 X 2?

Also, if I wanted to just get another 8gb stick to make 24gb, running at 3200 would I comprise performance?

System

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

Case: Phanteks eclipse P400A

Motherboard: MSI B550 Gaming Carbon WiFi

GPU: MSI RTX 3060 TI Gaming X Trio

RAM: 16GB XPG D60G CL16 3200MHZ

PSU: Sharkoon SilentStorm Cool Zero 650W

Storage: Crucial P2 1TB

i know people say just upgrade later but alot of times you forget and you just want more. I got 8gb of ram back in 2016 and just upgraded to 32gb. huge difference. buy the 4 x 8 if you want speed if this is a one time build. if you are planning to upgrade next gen then get 2 x 16

For a Ryzen system it's better to have 2 slots for maximum speed.

Having all slots occupied it will slow down the memory speed.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w
