Hello first post

i have had my pc a while now and recently my cpu cooler died so i bought a kraken x60 for half price (had a discount code) bit overkill but i had the money , now ive got a decent cooler i figured i should overclock and can only seem to get to the same speeds as the stock cooler about  3.3 GHz stable (temps are a lot lower now about 30-35)

Im using turbo v evo (not the best) which im comfortable with changing the settings on manual just dont understand why i cant get higher clocks can any one help me tell me what im doing wrong? is it my mobo?

I too have the 1055T and I've got it running @ 3.5GHz (3511 MHz - 3512 MHz). First off disable C1E, Turbo Core and Cool & Quiet from the BIOS as they will lock up the system... well, for sure two of them will. After that go and set your FSB to 250 since the max multiplier we have access to will be the x14 so do the math (14 x 250 = 3500) and you'll have the cpu clock speed you want but on all 6 cores and not hindered by loss of cores due to Turbo Core.

Proof of my CPU:

My Specs:

MOBO - Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
CPU - AMD Phenom II X6 1055T @ 3.5GHz - Corsair H80i
RAM - 2x Corsair Vengence 4GB DDR3 @ 1666 MHz
GPU - SAPPHIRE 100351SR Radeon HD 7970 3GB @ 1100/1600 MHz
PSU - Thermaltake Purepower W0129RU 600 Watt

If you need any more help let me know as the 1055T is an amazing OC'er for what it is. Do a few searches and you'll find a great many people have pushed it to the 4GHz level.

Edit: here's a quick shot of my bios:

Sorry for the late response. I would let the board handle the voltage atm since you're not really pushing the CPU past 4GHz. I'm running 3.5GHz and NB and HT @ 2500MHz allowing me perfect gaming possibilities. This also allows running software PhysX on High in Borderlands 2 just fine.

Here're my temps and voltages from Aida64. Also, may want to disable Windows Power Control options. Don't need the OS trying to control CPU performance.

Edit: What's your psu? I run a 600w dual 12v. Had issues with my OC when I was running a single 12v 750w psu.

Very much discourage using Turbo V evo, or any other overclocking utility within the windows environment. Use your BIOS to overclock instead. You'll find it much easier to get stability that way and quite often programs like Turbo V evo will tell you that the system is running at a higher clock when it actually isn't

Model number would suffice.

Yeah, definitely try going in the bios to overclock, I'm sitting comfortably at 3.8 GHz with my 1045T. I suppose it's worth noting that not every processor will be able to overclock the same, but I suspect you should be able to get a good bit more out of yours. I have a Corsair TX650 PSU, ASUS M5A97 mobo and a Thermal Take all in one liquid cooler, the least expensive one they had, I forget the model number.

Here's my 3.8Ghz OC. I would stick with it, but I do miss the 2500MHz HT/NB frequencies that ran perfectly well with the 3.5GHz OC. I tried going for the 4.0GHz OC, but I still haven't found the proper settings for that clock speed and I'm not even sure if my specific chip can handle it. I'll slowly increase the clock speeds until I find my absolute max and post back here, but I probably won't keep them since I'm more than satisfied with the 3.5Ghz + 2500MHz NB/HT clocks. Plus I would want my 1666MHz on my RAM as well.

Edit: After pushing further up the clock chain I found that the highest stable clock was the 3.8GHz (this was very stable and completed benchmarks w/o fail). Everything beyond was unstable to the point where windows would crash before hitting the logon screen or the system just wouldn't boot/post. I'm back to my 3.5GHz stable with NB/HT @ 2500MHz and RAM @ 1666MHz. I may once again try for the 4.0Ghz (stable of course) OC after I can pick up the 1475w dual 12v PSU I've had my eye on for quite some time. The reason for the purchase is that I want to either Crossfire my current 7970 with another or pick up an AMD 7990 reference card. Either way I will hit that 4.0GHz on this cpu before I upgrade it as well.

Hmm, out of curiosity, what do you gain with the higher HT/NB frequencies? Mine are at about 1980 now, I think. My RAM is not that much lower, only at 1503, so I'm not too concerned with that, considering it's only 1600 in the first place.

The best and quite informative information I give comes from the following article. It discusses AMD cpus and overclocking. It covers the NB and HT and also helps when understanding what's needed when you oc the AMD Thuban and Deneb cores. Also covered in the article is the difference in oc'ing locked and unlocked multipliers.

Holy crud!! You got quad 12v rails. That's way more than enough power and stability to handle the oc. Since we can easily say that power is not the issue. I would have to say let's start looking at your BIOS setup. On top of that let's make sure to disable any software oc'ing software before starting the oc through bios as to not conflict. After that we can slowly go through the settings to find your satisfactory setup.

Try this after disabling any software oc'ing apps you may have. Set the CPU Freq to 250 and then set NB and HT to 2500MHz.

Note: I forgot to ask, but did you go through your BIOS and Disable AMD C1E and Cool & Quiet features as well? Very important with the C1E thing and OC'ing your CPU.

Why are you running your ram at 1000MHz. set it for at least 1333 - 1666 with default timings.

I keep looking at your boards specs and I'm just completely lost as to why it's not allowing for higher clocks. Most 1055T's I've seen posted about have at least hit the 3.5GHz without fail. My old Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H Rev 1.0 board pushed the same clocks as I am now on this Sabertooth 990FX R 2.0 board. I'm starting to think you may have lucked out on the CPU or maybe even the board. I do apologize for not being able to help you break past the 3.3Ghz you're currently locked in to.
