I just got a kingston 240gb SSD (the one linus tweeted the deal from amazon about a month ago) and want to install it for my os and caching to my 1tb HHD that has all my other stuff.

What do I need to do to transfer the OS and set up Caching?

Am I going to lose any data in the process?

I know i need to reformat the drives for a raid but the only backup I have is a 120gb external drive which is not enough.

Do I have any other options?

I'm sorry, I don't have any experience with caching. I'm surprised nobody else replied. Sad to see people only taking interests in threads like Nvidia vs. Amd, Intel vs. Amd or build guide's.

More like most people don't do ssd caching like this. Most just install the os on the ssd and everything else on the hdd. Nothing to do with what interests who.

Could I just re install the os on the ssd and be done like that? its a 240gb so I could still store any stuff I use regularly. I am at about 850gb on my HDD though so i was thinking about getting 1 or 2 wd green 2tb to replace it and throw the old one in my other computer, I think SRT would be easy to install if it was all new drives.

You honestly wouldn't even has to reinstall unless you just wanted to, assuming you already have windows installed on a drive. Just clone the drive the os is on to the ssd. But if you wanted to reinstall then yes that would work. That is how I have mine and how most people use ssd/hdd's in their rigs. Ssd for os and important stuff. Hdd for programs, games etc.

I have no experience with ssd caching either so I'm, no help on that front. But if you just do it that way you'll still be happy I am sure. :D

No problem and sorry I couldn't help with what you were asking. I just have never done it and have no experience.
