Ram slot 1-3:G-skill trident X 2400 ddr3 8gb sticks

Ram slot 2-4:hynix semiconductor 1600mhz ddr3 8gb sticks.

You are mixing memory speeds. Every time you change the memory around, you should clear the bios so it will redetect the memory.

Also, put the gskill memory in the yellow slots and the hynix in the black slots.

Clear the bios by unplugging the PSU, pulling the coin battery and pressing the power button for 5 seconds.

Ok so today I cleaned out my pc and when I hooked it back up, the dram light started flashing red and I was getting powercycles, I then switched the ram around until I used one stick of ram in the far left dimm slot and managed to hit memok, allowing me to get to BIOS. When I saved the bios as dram frequency to auto, windows boot started but got stuck with a flashing underscore one line down from the top left.

Setup:

Intel i7-4790

Gigabyte Geforce 1660

Ram slot 1-3:G-skill trident X 2400 ddr3 8gb sticks

Ram slot 2-4:hynix semiconductor 1600mhz ddr3 8gb sticks.

Cooler: Corsair H60 AIO

Mobo: Asus z87m-plus bios version 1106.

1x2tb HDD

1x boot SSD

1x1tb SSD

PSU: EVGA 500w 80+

This all worked before I cleaned it.

can you try clearng the cmos? (unpluging the psu, pulling the coin battery and waiting 10-30mins)

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

ok now i'm confused i put all the ram back and it booted fine

i don't know what to say, this goes against all logic and idk why it booted, no memok check and just straight into windows, also now my cpu is somehow boosting to 4ghz (3.6 base) so like, what in the hell is going on? xD

FYI, rather than waiting 10-30 minutes, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds while the battery is out and power cord disconnected. Promise it works the same as the 10-30 minute option.
