does it even make much of an difference?

Really depends on the games

Also consider an i7-2600 cause it could be a bit cheaper on eBay

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Personally I'd say yes, However don't discount the Xeon 1280V2 as you'll be using a GPU. It has a higher single core turbo of 4.0GHz and is more power efficient.

Depends on higher end GPU's, settings used, expectations before you purchase...
8threads truly does clear up a lot of 4core4thread 80-100% issues as the 8threads sit around 60-85% in the same situations, but the GPU can breath better.
8threads still has it's limits on Newer games,.. esp with FASTER GPU's.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Fair enough, They can be a little difficult to find. From a quick eBay seach (I'm in the UK) I could only find a couple of listings compared to many i7 listings.

Completely understandable. In that case I'd definitely look for something a bit more local 🤣 If you can find an i7 3770 that would perform very well in your system.

how about AAA titles in low settings

Modern AAA titles would definitely benefit from 4 more threads. So an old i7 or Xeon is a good choice.

thanks man i am going to buy an i7 3770 or should i go for an extra overclockable 3770k

What motherboard do you have? Do you enjoy overclocking? Do you have a beefy cooler?

Personally I'd recommend going for a 3770K and overclocking it. You'll get more performance from it that way. But be careful when buying overclockable parts used, the past user/users could have done some seriously ridiculous overclocks which would shorten the lifespan of them.
