Does it really matter which M.2?

oskar23

I see plenty of M.2 with same storage but totally different price ranges and im wondering if its worth paying extra?

Are there any key differences when it comes to performance or m.2's life?

M.2 is just a connector/form factor. It's like asking if there's any difference between SATA drives.

There's big differences between different M.2 drives as you can have SATA M.2 or NVMe M.2, DRAM-less SATA and DRAM-less NVMe, as well as the quality and speed of the NAND and controller in general.

Oh i meant NVMe ones. Between those.

For example 970pro vs 960 evo. If paying extra makes any difference.

In that specific case, its its more or less a "if you have to ask, no". Yes, there are differences but for general consumer use, you're not going to notice a difference.

If you're interested in the specifics, both drives have extensive reviews available.
