How to make qemu use uefi

I’m trying to boot Debian in qemu and it stays at booting from hard drive. I looked it up and I found that for this case I need to have it boot from uefi. Is there an argument I need to add when I start qemu? And host Is is macOS.

Debian works fine without UEFI as well. You're doing something else wrong with your setup.
