4*8 or 16*2?

Moosh

So I was wondering is it better, performance-wise, to fill all your RAM slots rather then just having 2 sticks running in Dual Channel or does it not make a difference? Like for example if I want 32GB of RAM is it better to have 4 sticks of 8GB RAM or should I get 2 sticks of 16GB RAM? From my initial investigation it seems 2 sticks of 16GB is cheaper than 4 sticks of 8GB, assuming you get the same brand, model, speed etc..

Thanks for your help.

16x2 will generally work better than 4x8

Performance wise there is little to no difference.

But 2 sticks leave an upgrade path to 64GB.

As the above reactions already tell you, it SHOULD not make a difference.
Altho increasing the hardware also increases the amount that can fail.

And 2 sticks of ram seem to be easier to have the same timings then 4, so besides the price it can be harder to OC.

So if the price allows it always buy the 2 stick sets.

(Then you can also upgrade it later (add another set of RAM), but i found thats not always a smart move. Since some manufacturers just change their product, and not tell anybody.)

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!
