With FTB you want the most CPU performance you can get. 6400K won't cut it.

At least get a haswell i3, 8 gigs of ram, and a tb of storage(dem maps get huge). The server will run fine with the igpu, so no need for descrete.

The budget isn't big enough though. Can you save an extra $100-$150? The server will run fine at first, but when you start building automated machines, the server will suffer.

I set up a server with my q8200 and 4gb of ram and boy did it crash. Pc couldn't keep up

8gb of RAM is way overkill, and a 1TB drive? Sure the maps get big, but they don't get nearly that big, at least for our 6 players. Besides, like I said in the original post, we're limiting the map size to 3000x3000.

Try it with 4 GBs. If it starts to crash , try getting another 4 GBs. I used 4 GBs for my server and it wasn't enough for 4 players. I haven't been keeping up with FTB and I don't know what pack your using, so my info may be outdated. And I recommend 1 tb of storage for world saves. If you are willing to manage the world saves every once in a while, get something smaller and save money.

You won't need 1TB.

However if you are going with an SSD, I would go with 64GB.  32GB may seem like enough, but windows installation takes up a huge chunk.

Also if you really don't want 8GBs of RAM now, go with 1 stick of 4GB and buy another 4GB down the road if you need it.
