Lemme know what you all think!
Also I plan on using the new NZXT G10's on the 780ti's so that should be interesting.   Why no custom loop? I'm still thinking on it and if someone can convince me with a good choice of rads and blocks then I'll tackle that instead!

Sorry if it wasn't that clear haha I have one 780ti and I'm getting another! I want the higher frames with everything up for 1440p and eventually 3 way for 4k when I can get a 4k ips for under $1000.

Would one 360mm rad be enough to cool the cpu and both gpu's or should I get another 240?

why? this is gunna be my 1st build :) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/377Uh

I like it! plus I love that case as my friend has one at school. The only reason I'm spending as much as I am is I have the disposable income from work over the summer and from kickbacks from all the grants I got freshman year.

It's mainly gaming but my internship involves a lot of autocad and photoshop. I know the 16gb of ram is overkill and the 4770k gives me like 2+ frames in game over the 4670k but I enjoy knowing I have it if I need it. :D Thanks for the advice though!

I think he should stay with 16GB , especially if he can afford it. Can never have too much ram.

nooooo all you need is 8gb for gaming otherwise your just wasting money

The more the merrier, especially with ram prices finally starting to drop. He also says he edits, so the 16GB can be useful.

ram prices are still inflated to hell their not going to drop for long time to come

I think the 16gb ram with the sexy red heatsinks from corsair for $169.99 is really not all that terrible. It could've been worse, just last week for example haha. I am only trying to slightly future proof this. Maybe even Ram disk when I get 32gb.

I am seriously considering 4k by the way for those that are saying this is overkill otherwise.

if your going to do 4k (in my opinion pointless) your going to have to invest way more and get something like a titan black

just look at that review. I have no clue if it is true as I haven't seen many other benchmarks for the titan black but the one card vs one card is neck and neck for the most part as the 3gb buffer is barely enough for now. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2014/02/26/nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-black-review/3

their not playing at 4k though when it comes to 4k performance the titan black will pull away by faaaaaaaaaaaaar

sorry i should rephrase the 780tis based off the same architecture as the titan but its at a lower clock and res when it comes to 4k its still not going to be able to handle 4k as well as the titans are

All I know, based off the benchmarks I've seen, is that the titan black edition gets you anywhere from 1-3 more frames than a 780ti AT 4K. To me that difference is not worth the card being $200-300 more than the 780ti. At this point in time, the 6gb vram is not making that much of a difference in gaming.

let me butt in here and say some things:

I know sounder IRL. he's not exactly wanting for cash, if you know what I mean, so the budget isn't something I'm going to argue about.

second, arguing video cards at this point is DUMB and STUPID, @SAV1OUR, because he already has a 780ti from asus (I ran it in my rig for a while cause it's the only part he's got)

third: for 4k NOW the difference is minimal because there aren't any cards out there that have the horsepower to drive 4k regardless of the amount of memory. this changes when you look into a crossfire or sli setup, which is in Sounder's future. we've talked about this at length.

fourth: However, 4 or 6 gb of vram in cards for the future is going to be very important soon, with 4k on the rise and textures made for that resolution as opposed to 1080p. Hell, an 8gb 290X is coming out, and that would be pretty damn awesome, especially with 4 290X's crossfired under water. that could drive 3x4K, I think.

TL;DR: arguing in this case is stupid because sounder already has one 780ti, but for the future Sav1our is right to suggest higher vram amounts.

Daily Driver:

Case: Red Prodigy CPU: i5 3570K @ 4.3 GHZ GPU: Powercolor PCS+ 290x @1100 mhz MOBO: Asus P8Z77-I CPU Cooler: NZXT x40 RAM: 8GB 2133mhz AMD Gamer series Storage: A 1TB WD Blue, a 500GB WD Blue, a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

hey, I'm the friend he mentioned. just warning you, the prodigy M is laid out like a drunk ape took all the mounting hardware and dumped it into the ITX version... not a good case IMO. the prodigy (non-M) is a great case but too big to justify mITX. I know modders who have put eATX in one...

there are better mATX cases, like the FT03 from silverstone. or the 350D. and if you want lan case, look no further than the ML07 from silverstone that's releasing soon. it's Identical to the new mITX raven case but without the raven styling.
