Hi! I have just purchased a bunch of hardware and put together a XP Gaming PC. But when I try to install Windows XP It won't istall for some bizarre reason. I have tried to install Windows XP from CD,DVD RW and DVD R and I have even tried to install it from USB stick. It boots up fine and I have tested it with a hard drive from a spare laptop so everything works. I try to install XP and it gets to this screen with a white blinking "Strip" otherwise the whole screen is black. Mobo is Asus P5Q and no information have I found on the interwebs about this mobo.

Just to clearify everything works. Nothing is broken.

Maybe switch to IDE mode instead AHCI. For xp it may be the reason. You can change it to AHCI after install (tutorials are on internet).

Other method - install XP on another computer and boot on P5Q after. In case bsod, you can use Paragon Adaptive Restore bootable iso and click "Adjust OS".
