I am bench testing my new cpu and motherboard, will the cpu post without adding a cpu fan just yet? I want to save the stock amd cooler for later as i will be disassembling everything and travelling, so i wanted to know if i deffo need the cpu fan just to check for a post

Some people confuse fan and heatsink. Do you want to run it without a heatsink? If yes, then please don't.

Just dap a small bit of paste and REST it firmly on top and check post then remove and clean easily.

 

While only a few seconds, don't leave the heatspreader bare. Just place a cooler heatsink and fan on it with a dab of paste and check, you dont need to clip it in, just firmly have it on top and flat.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
